I recently engaged a specialist damp surveyor to identify the underlying cause of the penetrating damp in my converted stone Granary in South Wales. The report recommended the application of a render to provide a barrier to the rainwater penetration through the porous stone walls. I contacted the suggested render manufacturer and received a site survey from my local representative. They made a thorough inspection of my property and provided me with data on the products that could be applied, drew up a specification for provision to their approved application suppliers and provided me their details for them to quote for the application of the render.

I contacted MP Plastering and booked a site visit with Mark and his team to review my requirements. They listened to my requirements and provided me with a lot of simple to understand information on how the rendering process work would be undertaken and the expected timeframes for completion. We discussed the variety of finishes and colours that would be the best fit for the local area and the surrounding buildings prior to the order of the final product. The original building was used as a Granary and as such the walls were made of natural stones with a variety of textures and colours. The windows and door of the ground floor were arched and edged with bricks providing a particularly attractive decorative feature. Mark talked through the process for the application of ‘brick slips’ which he had sourced to preserve the original style of the building over the top of the original bricks (which were porous) so that I could visualise the look of the finished walls.

Mark’s approach to my problem was sympathetic and helpful and they provided a full turnkey solution from the management of the third party scaffolding to the removal and reinstallation of my existing fixtures and fittings (porch, drainpipes etc) and the complete render process. His team during the installation were very courteous and cleaned up every day before they left.  I work from home and there was no undue noise or disruption during their time on site. The team leader was on hand every day and was able to answer any questions I had and Mark also regularly attended to ensure that the work was on schedule and to the approved render supplier standard.

The finished product is stunning, I have not lost the beautiful integrity of the historical building that is my home but I have gained a fantastic exterior that is both watertight and fits in with the natural landscape around me. I would highly recommend MP Plastering as a supplier due to their professional but not pushy service, easy to understand clear consultation and communication with me and ultimately the final excellent quality product. I just wanted to let you know what a great job your guys have done today in finishing off the front of our house.  Alison and I are both very pleased with the finished job.

We are delighted with the progress that’s been made this week.  All the guys here are focused on the job and are a pleasure to have around – a rare thing!  Thank you. The only downside is that my 8 year old son is very disturbed at the whole house being pink!!

I watched with great interest as a house in the next village had its render applied and contacted MP Plastering when I could see what a great job had been done.

Mark was very helpful right from our first meeting – it was clear that he knew what he was talking about and he was keen to involve the Representative from the render manufacturer right from the outset to ensure that all the correct products and processes were used.

Ours was not a straightforward job. The exterior of our house had a combination of very old, lime render (full of horse hair) that had blown in many places, painted concrete (whre past owners had ‘bodged’ the repairs) and, if that wasn’t enough – brand new breeze blocks.  Mark knew that the existing plaster/concrete/lime would need to be removed and/or repaired and then treated before any new application could be applied.

Once the team arrived, I can honestly tell you that they were a delight to have here and I don’t say that lightly!!

Nothing was too much trouble, I was kept informed of the processes and their progress constantly.

Due to their knowledge and expertise, the render was applied and alterations were made to ensure that the render was ‘age appropriate’ to the building – so the render on the corners and around the windows was rounded and great care was taken over the plinth, which looks superb as a result of the care that was taken to ensure a perfect finish.

I cannot recommend MP Plastering more highly.  The price was right, the team were a delight to have at the house and the finish is superb!  What more could you ask for?

This is the first time we have used MP Plastering and I am very pleased with the results, in relation to both the finished product and the professionalism of the staff. I have recommended them to our other site management.

We are very happy with the installation and overall look of the building. It’s also a lot warmer than it weas before and saved us an awful lot of internal space. The whole job was professionally handled. My only slight concern is possible damage to the surface that might occur given its location and use and the fact that if you jet wash the surface you have to be very careful not to take the top coat off. Would definitely recommend MP Plastering as a company.
